1. Please introduce yourself.: ↪ giadelarue.
2. How long have you been making websites?: ↪ nearly 1 year. especially this year - 2026.
3. And what got you into the hobby?: ↪ i discovered neocities duing my first year of university in vietnam, i was so impressed by how people could make their own sites and i went thru so many websites to read back then. i really wanted to built one of my own, but i thought it was too hardcore to me and i didn't have time to learn html and css. so, i just surfed around and saw what people were doing their things over 2 years. until oneday... i decided to play around with code.
4. What kind of website are you most interested in?: ↪ because neocities has lots of users in the world, we can connect to many people coming from different countries. so, i always click on their diary page when i first visit a new site to see how their day was, what they did in a day ... a site with a frequently updated diary page always catches my eye.
5. What's your workflow? Do you plan your websites out thoroughly or do you come up with the design as you go along?: ↪ mixed. i sketch some layouts i want in my sketchbook, but i was not able to recreate them exactly due to my current skill level. also, if i choose to put an item under some text and the result isn't perfect, i will change my idea.
6. Please link to your biggest inspirations.: ↪ hmm... if you had asked me this question a month ago, i would have totally said it's dimden. but there are 2 names (dimden and yagara) suddently came to my mind right now and it's really difficult for me to choose one. i always drawn to someone who has a passion for what they do and does whatever they want. i think this answer is really boring but it's exactly what i feel. i can link their buttons below.
7. What's your favourite part about making websites?: ↪ i get to chat with lots of talented and amazing people. i remember one morning when i woke up, i turned on my phone and i realized that two people had left messages on my guestbook. i felt so so content after that. i think this is the coolest feeling i have ever had since running this site.
8. And the thing you struggle with the most?: ↪ i just learned css and html this year, but im always want to make something super professional and epic. however, my skills and knowledge are not enough right now. there are still lots of things left for me to learn, whenever i discover something new, i just want to know more and more...
9. Do you keep the same layout on all of your pages? Or do you use different ones?: ↪ it depends on my mood. i prefer making stuff for fun, and honestly, trying to keep all things always being the same stress me out.
10. How confident are you with CSS?: ↪ hmm... not much, but it is definately better to use it than to use javascript to style my site.
11. Do you know how to correctly use <dl>?: ↪ i don't know what the word "correcly" exactly means in this question... but i rarely use it.
12. What is your favourite HTML element?: ↪ <p>
13. If you're making a new web page from scratch, what is the first thing you do?: ↪ creating a new file on visual studio code.
14. Do you know JavaScript?: ↪ a very very very little...
15. How about PHP?: ↪ what is it? no.
16. Does your website have a theme that you stick to?: ↪ yeh, it does. i picture my site as something similar to a visual novel. whenever someone comes to my website, i want them to feel like there is a story being told. here are some refs which i found on pinterest, i have saved more on my account but these three best represent what i really want.
17. Are you more focused on content or design?: ↪ design always comes first. it's easier for me to make something beautiful than to make it meaningful, but i do want to create something meaningful too. so, i will think about the content once im done playing around with the layout.
18. Do you own a domain name? If not, would you ever want to?: ↪ no, i don't. i have thought about it several times before... maybe i will get one next year. and also,... that's my secret.
19. What do you think of nostalgia-focused or "retro" websites?: ↪ i have a nostalgic soul, so i absolutely love them, and im working on showing that vibe to everyone. i can not stand reading long walls of text, but a site which is very raw like this really hypes me up deep inside.
20. Is your HTML valid? Do you even check?: ↪ i didn't use to know. i just checked it and found out there are a ton of errors.
21. What are your opinion on buttons and banners?: ↪ really cool, i really enjoy drawing banners and buttons for my site. cause all i wanna do is making my site feel so "me".
22. What do you think of button walls in particular?: ↪ i wanna have a button wall page on my site.
23. If you started over again, would you make something similar or completely different?: ↪ different, im always riding the winds of change...
24. Are you envious of other people's websites?: ↪ reallyyyy, whenever i see some cool sites, im always thinking about how to surpass them.
25. What text editor do you use?: ↪ visual studio code.
26. Why do you use that one?: ↪ i don't have any special purpose. it's simply because i watched a video to learn coding as a beginner on youtube, and it was recommended to me. so, i use it for convenience. i haven't run into any problems with it so far.
27. Do you host your image files on your web server, or on another host?: ↪ i use catbox.moe. it worked really well for me backthen. but lately, the web has been a bit slow sometimes, so i also upload my images to tumblr and neocities.
28. This might not be relevant to you, but what's your opinion on the Neocities vs. Nekoweb debate?: ↪ im using both of them. i just recently got into the indie web, but i truly think it is really cool to see this community grow bigger. i can not tell which is the better, and i use both because i want to reach more viewers, both platforms are beneficial to me. eventhough, i link to neocities more, im a huge fan of dimden - his works inspires me so much. i think everyone making stuff for their community should be encouraged and respected.
29. How much server space would you estimate your main website takes up?: ↪ around 200kb
30. Do you keep local backups of your files?: ↪ no, i don't. i save all my files on my macbook right now. sometimes, i think neocities and nekoweb are places to save my files as backups too.
31. Do you prefer simple or highly visual websites?: ↪ i don't care much about that, if it suits my style.
32. Do you stick to certain colours? Do you do that on purpose, or is it your subconscious?: ↪ i prefer black and bold colours for everthing. when i was in high school, i wore a purple jacket for around 4 years. everyone in the class sometimes recognized me by that jacket. so, this color has been very close to me until now.
33. Have you ever thought about quitting? Why?: ↪ noooooo neverrrrr
34. Do you have many webmaster friends, or is it a solitary hobby?: ↪ i'm mostly a solitary girl, but i really want to have a group of friends...
35. Do people in your real life know about your website?: ↪ not all people in real life, i just share my site with a few friends.... im considering...
36. Do you update your website very often? How often is "very often"?: ↪ yeh, i updated it so many tinmes in a day at the beginning. it's because i was never satified with how it turned out. but i think im slowly on a right track. i love how it looks rn.
37. And the overall design, do you change that much? Why or why not?: ↪ so so much...
38. Is your website more you-focused, hobby-focused, or outside world-focused?: ↪ i focus on myself and do what i like right now, but i definately admit this site will blur thoes lines in the future.
39. Do you do web design professionally?: ↪ no, i make noob webs.
40. If not, would you like to? And if you're comfortable answering, what do you do for work?: ↪ i don't work.
41. Do you communicate with people by email very much?: ↪ no, i don't. all my friends don't use that way to chat...
42. Some people reject social media and use websites as a replacement. Do you keep social media outside of your website?: ↪ yeh, but im considering changing. i want to focus more on myself, and indieweb helps me a lot.
43. How about instant messengers? Do you use a mainstream one like Discord or Telegram? Or something like Matrix? Do you avoid them?: ↪ im using discord and instagram to chitchat...
44. Do you listen to music while you work on websites? If so, what kinds of artists?: ↪ so much, hmm... i always listen to bigbang, him, m.pokora, some vietnames singers.
45. Do you keep everything you make on one website, or do you have more than one?: ↪ i just use this site and my purpose is to make it more interesting
46. On a similar note, do you keep to one topic on your site, or many?: ↪ i prefer diverse topics. i have an unfamiliar soul.
47. Do you present your real self, or at least try? Or do you construct a persona on purpose?: ↪ my real soul, i want everyone get to know me by following and seeing what i do. hmm... also, i have a my own character who looks like a girl with blue messy hair, a chocker on her neck and bohemian style.
48. Have you ever made a good friend thanks to your website?: ↪ haven't... im so lonely...
49. Are you happy with the way HTML and CSS currently work?: ↪ sure.
50. What are practices that you think people should avoid?: ↪ i don't know, people should do everything they want.
51. What about under-utilised practices, or things you think people should do more?: ↪ this is a very tough question for me to answer. because the advantage of joining the indie web is that people can have a free place to do their work and learn by themself without feeling stressed.
52. Do you use a lot of semantic HTML? Or are you guilty of generic structure?: ↪ im not the kind of person who always follows the rules. i just write and fix the errors until the code can run smoothly.
53. Do you consider different browsers?: ↪ non
54. Speaking of, what's your preferred browser? Convince your readers why they should use it.: ↪ hmm... safari. i don't have any recommendations to anyone, i use it because im using macbook...
55. And what OS are you on?: ↪ sequoia 15.7.7
56. Do you have a strong opinion on that, or do you just happen to use it?: ↪ hmm... no i don't. i don't even have any reason to update.
57. Are your websites mobile-friendly?: ↪ no... i prefer anyone using their computer or laptop more than their phone. reading blogs on pc hits different.
58. What are your thoughts on autoplay?: ↪ curse
59. What are your thoughts on webrings? Are you in any?: ↪ i don't have, but it's cool. i wanna try.
60. Do you have any web shrines? What do you like to see in that sort of page?: ↪ i don't have yet, and any ideas either.
61. Are your websites "cliche", in your opinion?: ↪ so cruellll... but well, it is what it is right now...
62. What is your ideal website? Are you striving for that, or for something else?: ↪ hmm... i want to make a blog which can follow me year by year and people can see me grow up through the website. im an idealistic person and i prefer experience to a final result. i don't know why, but i have a feeling like i want this site to be something more than just the part of me. i need a place to express myself and connect with everyone in the world.
63. Are you an artist? Do you draw or design your own assets?: ↪ i am, my drawing and design skills let me personalize my website which makes me so proud of it.
64. What are your favourite resource sites?: ↪ it is web design museum. i first copy-pasted code from here to learn how they code websites. plus, the wayback machine is a really cool feature.
65. Is there a habit you just can't get away from no matter how hard you try?: ↪ hmmm... no, i satified with who i am.
66. What's your biggest advice for a new webmaster?: ↪ JUST HAVE FUNNN!
67. Do you keep all your styling in CSS? Or do you hard-code some?: ↪ just css.
68. What do you think of frameset layouts?: ↪ it is a good way to lay out our site at first when we don't have any idea how to built it. also, in my opinion, organized chaos is much better than something that is too neat or too messy.

70. Do you subscribe to the ideas of "one-column", "two-column" and "three-column" layouts? Do you use any of these?: ↪ my index page is three-colum...
71. Do you spend longer on the HTML or the CSS?: ↪ both, i can not tell which one is longer.

75. Do you have a habit of looking at the source code of websites you visit?: ↪ i always looking at the source of which one i really love and want to learn.
76. How did YOU learn how to make websites?: ↪ i copied all the code of the website i like and played around at the first time.
77. Do you ever force elements to do things they're not supposed to?: ↪ several times.

79. When you're sizing stuff, what do you use first? Do you use px, em, %, or something else?: ↪ px and %
80. Do you have a favourite font?: ↪ not yet... im looking for something retro.
81. Would you run a website with another person? How would that work?: ↪ no, im so lonely.
82. Do you surf the Web to find new personal websites very often?: ↪ not very often.
83. Do you bookmark other people's websites? How would you feel knowing someone else bookmarked yours?: ↪ before creating this site, i used to bookmark which site i was into, but now i directly follow them instead. i will cry if i know there is someone outthere who likes my site.
84. What do you want people to be most impressed with when they see your website?: ↪ hmm...whole thing. i want people see through all my work and saying that this personal is cool and talented...
85. Are you interested in technology outside of websites? Do you collect?: ↪ no, i don't.
86. How often and for how long are you online?: ↪ everyday, just text me on discord.
87. When it comes to your website, who is your target audience?: ↪ im an artist. i tend to stream and share my workflow so i welcome someone who likes what im doing right now and supports me. also, i want someone who is able to share knowledge and work with me. or at least, someone who is kind.
88. Have you ever been interested in XHTML?: ↪ haven't heard this before.
89. Do you program in general? Have you ever written a program for use with or on your website, not counting simple JavaScript?: ↪ no, i don't... once again... im a noob webmaster.
90. Speaking of programs that help you make websites, what do you think of static site generators (SSGs)? Have you ever used one?: ↪ haven't heard that too...
91. Do you keep a hitcounter? Why or why not?: ↪ i used to. it made your site look reliable, but i don't use it now because im waitting for dimden's widgetstar.
92. Do you frequent forums? Which ones?: ↪ hmm... just in high school. it was called dien dan etruyen, a vietnamese web novel and forum. however, i haven't visited it for more than 4 years and it was downed last year.
93. Do you write your page content directly into the editor, or do you prepare it elsewhere, like a text document or a Word document?: ↪ i write directly on visual studio code without preparing.
94. Do you think you appear cool to others? A more accurate answer now: do other people ever say you're cool?: ↪ not much...
95. Are you embarrassed of your old work? Have you ever deleted everything out of shame?: ↪ i wasn't satified with my old work but "being embarrassed" is a way too much to describe my feeling.
96. Would you close down your website if you couldn't update it, or would you leave an archive?: ↪ i want to run my site as further as i can... i want to go thru my 20s youth with this site.
97. Do you reveal a lot about yourself on your website? Or are you more secretive?: ↪ i truly want to let people know more about me, i just so lazy to update my diary everyday.
98. Are you willing to reveal who your best online friend is, and/or if they have a website?: ↪ my best online friend is in Hanoi, but she doesn't have a site.
99. And do you optimise the images on your website?: ↪ yess, so many times.
100. We're out of time! How do you feel after answering 100 questions? ....other than exhausted.: ↪ i feel like i were a kpop idol in her fanmeeing and try to answer politely and professionally in every questions. however, i promise all answers coming from my heart, i don't tell any lies here.
